`SCRUFFY MONGREL' TAKES A DIP

Mick Bezzina's appearance belies the fact that he is one of the most successful developers of waterfront and beachside towers in Sydney and is the face behind Australia's most expensive apartment at $20 million.

The tattooed developer casually greeted his elegantly dressed guests - at the official opening of the Jade tower, Surfers Paradise, this week - wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

Later 2UE announcer Glenn Wheeler cracked jokes about where Mick, who was no where to be seen, could be.

``He was only expecting 60 or 70 people and he's run out of grog,'' he said. ``He'll be back soon. He's just gone to get some more.''
Wheeler then told the 500-strong crowd: ``You're more than welcome to camp here the night if you have too much to drink. There are plenty of apartments to stay in.''

Mick soon reappeared wearing a suit which was ripped to shreds by two `goons' in a comical charade which ended with a suprise swim in the pool.
Says Wheeler: ``Nobody has ever seen you in a suit before. You are an imposter . . . you scruffy mongrel.''
A dripping Mick smiled through all the insults and good-natured bantering and, we suspect, will be smiling all the way to the bank.
